Which Type of Motorised Lawn Mower

Which Type of Motorised Lawn Mower is Right For You?

When it comes to selecting the right motorised lawn mower, the first thing that you should know is that there are two main different types – cylinder and rotary mowers.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Both of these types are powered by petrol, electricity or man power that can be delivered with some good old fashioned elbow grease.

Let’s take a look at what you need to know before you choose the lawn mower that’s best for your lawn:

Rotary lawn mower

This type is generally a more cost effective option and it’s easy to maintain and use. It’s not the Formula 1 of lawn mowers, so will be able to handle a little bit of overgrowth and still work fine. Even if your lawn is not completely even or level, you’ll find that this type of lawnmower will be able to handle the ups and the downs without too much of a problem.

It works by cutting the grass with a rotating blade that stays parallel with the lawn. This makes it necessary to keep the blade sharp so that it can cut through the grass without ripping and tearing at it. This type of mower is available in either a petrol or electric version.

Cylinder lawn mower

If you’re looking for a lawn that is closely cut and looking like it is out of a luxury home magazine, then the cylinder lawn mower could be for you. Although you’ll find that they are more expensive to buy and quite a bit harder to maintain, you’ll think it’s worth it once you see how good the cut looks.

However, this type of mower is quite particular and cannot cut lawns that are overgrown. They are built with a horizontally mounted cylinder with several blades that will spin and pick up the grass using a bottom blade. It’s possible to purchase a cylinder mower in a push version, in addition to the electric and petrol powered versions.
