We take a quick look here at the top 5 tools we think every garden lover should own:

Shovel

Everybody needs a shovel to turn over the soil, plant trees or to mix in compost to improve the quality of your soil.

Ideally you’ll opt for the tempered-steel round-point shovel with a shaft of between 44 and 46 inches. You can find them made of fibreglass, metal or wooden shafts – select the one that you feel is going to give you the most comfort.

Hand Pruner

You can remove dead branches and trim live ones with a hand pruner. Choose one with blades that look to be smooth operating and grips that are comfortable.

Hand Trowel

The most basic of gardening tools is the hand trowel. Used for digging holes for planting in containers and garden beds, in addition to mixing compost or fertiliser with soil. You should select one that has a narrow blade as this will help when it comes to making holes.

Basket

You’ll need something to carry your tools, plans and weeds in and a basket is usually perfect for the job.

We recommend a 5-gallon bucket with a handle. If you see any mention of measurements, then even better.

Leaf Blower

Used for collecting up old fallen leaves, the leaf blower will save you hours of back-breaking work. Look for one that you know you will be able to carry – if in doubt call us today and one of our team will help you make the right choice.
