Continuing to build great memories with the lawn as a backdrop is a goal of many of us, especially in those seemingly short summer months.

Unfortunately it’s not always easy to get the lawn that will look fantastic due to drought, pests and other issues that can prevent a lawn from looking its very best.

If you’re struggling to up the ante with the looks of your lawn, here are our tips on taking care of your outside space so that you’ll be able to build those memories and capture the green lushness in family movies and photos:

Don’t Get Too Short

Cutting grass short is not good for it and actually makes it weaker. For a start, it will dry out much faster and in actual fact, taller grass can go a long way in preventing weeds and will encourage roots to grow deeper, and therefore your grass will be able to reach moisture that is below the top level.

Choose the Right Grass Seed For Your Soil

Grass seeds should be selected for their environment. Some soils are more acidic than others, and not every grass seed will flourish. Be sure to do your homework on which grass seed is right for your environment.

Choose the Right Plants for Your Unique Terrain

This can make quite a difference. You won’t get struggling grass plants, but you’ll find that they will grow easier and more happily. Your plants need the right climate and soil type to thrive.

Be Water Savvy

Certain grasses need more water than others, if you select ones that can accept less water and are tolerant of drought then you’ll lower your watering time and expense. If your local authority regular puts up a hose pipe ban then this can make more sense.

Educate Yourself

Do you know which weeds are considered as pernicious or invasive? Are you aware of the pH balance of your soil? By knowing more about what it takes to keep your lawn happy, you’ll be able to maximise its good looks and your time and energy.

By following our tips, you’ll soon be enjoying a happy healthy lawn that will be the backdrop of many happy family events.
