Summer 2021 will see the arrival of three new battery powered lawn tractor ranges. Three of the industry’s leading manufacturers Mountfield, Stiga and ATCO have met market demands by producing battery ride on mowers that have the power to maintain up to 3000m2. These E models are built to the same standards as their petrol equivalents, yet they mow without producing emissions and are simply recharged by plugging into a standard UK socket. They may come with a slightly more expensive price tag, but the savings are unequivocal, along with what battery mowers save on petrol they also require less engine maintenance making you quids in when servicing. The 48v lithium batteries are quiet on the move allowing you to mow from dawn to dusk without disturbing neighbours or residents. These quiet attributes make the battery grass tractor an excellent choice for contractors, hospitals and care homes. With the Government announcement to ban new petrol and diesel car sales in 2030 reducing our carbon footprint becomes ever more important and moving towards a greener way of working in the garden is a practical way to start.

Stiga’s e-Ride battery lawn tractors include both rear collect and side discharge models. Built to the exceptional quality you would expect from Stiga, the battery ride on mowers are styled the same as Stiga’s petrol versions. With an easy key starting and pedal-operated drive, the e-ride’s is extremely user friendly. All models are powered by an efficient 48v lithium battery system. The S500 and S500 models can maintain lawns up to 3000m2 with a 48v 40Ah battery and are recharged ready to mow in 8 hours. The S300 and C300 has a 48V 30Ah battery and is suitable for mowing 1800m2 lawns, these models recharge in 6 hours due to their smaller battery size. The side discharge S models have a wide 98cm deck with twin cutting blades. The rear collect C models come supplied with a mulch kit and with the grass collector removed will eject the grass cuttings quickly to the rear of the mower.
The ATCO GT30 E is a premium battery grass tractor with a 240-litre grass collector and mulch plug. British manufacturer ATCO have been manufacturing superior build mowers in the UK since 1921 and have now produced a battery powered ride on to add to their portfolio. The GT30 E features a comfortable padded seat, user-friendly LED dashboard and cruise control for effortless mowing of large lawns. The 48v 30Ah battery can power the 84cm lawn tractor to cover 3000m2 and is recharged within 8 hours. The stylish bonnet design includes large headlights for maximum visibility when mowing as the daylight wains.
Mountfield’s battery powered Freedom range will soon include the 30e Battery Powered Lawn Tractors. With 84cm rear collect and 98cm side discharge option, Mountfield have ensured they have all mowing functions covered. The rear collect model features a large 240-litre grass collector and is supplied with a mulch plug and rear eject function. The twin bladed deck of the side discharge model is powered by dual batteries leaving a superb finish to the lawn and cut grass in neat rows as it mows. The Freedom 30e range has push button starting and easy foot pedal operation making the ride on mowers extremely user-friendly. Powered by a 48v 30Ah battery system, the battery grass tractors will mow up to 2000m2 on a single charge and are recharged ready to mow in 6 hours.
