The Masport Olympic 500 is the mid-range model in the Olympic petrol cylinder mower range at 20 inches. A mower this width is more than capable of tackling a medium to large sized domestic lawn. The Olympic 500 has both a multi section front roller and full width steel rear roller. The rear roller is split with differential which helps considerably turning the mower around curves and turns in the garden. Mounted on the front of the lawnmower is the plastic grass catcher. As the grass clippings are propelled forward with a cylinder cut mower the collector is always positioned here. The Masport Olympic 500 has a collector capacity of 70 litres, an excellent size for less stops to empty. A 6 bladed cutting cylinder is fitted as standard and can do 112 cuts per metre. Bought the Olympic 500 March 2020 and have used it for it's first full season. Very impressed with the solid build quality of this mower. It starts first time every time (even during the winter months now [Dec 2020] when firing up only once a month to keep it moving), Very clean cut and easy to adjust cut height. Also easy to reset the blades as they wear. Only criticism is the user manual is very poor. Start procedure is not that clear and pictures are not consistent with the actual mower. However, would highly recommend this mower if you have an ornamental lawn and want a low quality low cut. Would also recommend Mowers Online. Mower was delivered on time and the workshop staff seemed knowledgeable.

Excellent mower. Real quality and integrity of engineering throughout. Powerful, quiet and gives a pristine finish. Fuel cut off and ignition switch are a good idea and not found on lesser machines. One small niggle, the grass box is plastic but as it’s built with the same standards as the rest of the machine it is tough, but enormously heavy. This makes it difficult to empty grass into a refuse sack without a struggle. Not a problem for everyone but if that is your only means of disposal, then a few trips to the gym may be in order.
In all, I recommend this machine wholeheartedly and it makes a good king-term investment, as it’s built to last (in New Zealand).
